Job Description
Lead and manage a drug discovery project for cancer.
The job will involve identification, evaluation and implementation of new targets for screening in the area of cancer therapeutics. Major responsibilities will include establishment and validation of target-driven primary and secondary screens and conducting mechanistic studies to understand the mode-of-action of drug candidates.
Desired Profile
Ph.D in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Cancer Biology; Drug Discovery Experience; Cell based assays; Perform biochemical and cell-based assays; Screen compound; identify targets. Good written and verbal communication skills a must. Age group is flexible.

The SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, a premier research institution engaged in advanced scientific research in a number of areas and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, invites motivated students to apply for its residential Post-MSc-PhD Programme 2010.
Qualification: M.Sc. in Physics / Physical Chemistry / Mathematics / Biophysics / Biochemistry/Bioinformatics with at least 55% marks (completed or appearing). BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech students with relevant background may also apply.
INSPIRE (SHE): The successful candidates under INSPIRE-SHE (DST, Government of India) Scholarship are welcome.
Interview: The candidates will be called for an interview during 28-29 April and 9-10 June 2010 at SNBNCBS based on their JEST / GATE score of 2010, and/or CSIR-UGC-NET (JRF/LS) qualification.
Desired field of Study: The candidates are required to indicate their choice of areas of research, i.e. the department he / she would like to be considered for admission. A list of research areas and the respective Faculty members are available on the Bose Centre’s website. There are four departments at the Centre having the scopes for both theoretical and experimental research: 1. Theoretical Science; 2. Material Science; 3. Astrophysics & Cosmology; and 4. Residential Programme: The PMSc-Ph.D Research is a residential programme all through and the Centre will provide free hostel and other infrastructural facilities.

ORGANIZATION 
The Biozentrum International PhD Program provides advanced, interdisciplinary training in Molecular Biology and its associated scientific disciplines. University graduates admitted into the Program ("PhD students") receive theoretical and practical training, and conduct a research project under the supervision of a Biozentrum faculty member, monitored by a Thesis Advisory Committee. After the successful completion of his/her research project, the PhD student submits a written thesis. Following Committee approval of the thesis and successful completion of an oral examination, the candidate receives the degree of "PhD" from the University of Basel.
Admission 
Admission is competitive and is achieved through a selection procedure. Applicants must hold, or anticipate receiving before enrolment, a university degree that would formally qualify them to enter a PhD or equivalent program in their home country (MSc., Diploma, DEA etc.).
